Have you ever used the string trick to remove a ring? Have you ever used a sheet to roll someone onto their side? Have you ever had to force-cool a crematory furnace? We all have our own personal catalog of tips and tricks we’ve built over the years—things we learned from old-timers, or came up with ourselves from experience. These are the kinds of things no one teaches you in school, but we all wish we’d known years ago. The Independent Funeral Group is asking for your best-used tricks and unexpected tips, to compile them into a book, so we can keep all that hard-won knowledge moving forward. It would be too easy for the things we’ve learned and invented over our careers to be lost. We want to preserve our industry’s tricks of the trade, both to share with one another and to hand them on to the next generation. Some things you can only learn from experience— unless someone with that experience shares it with you! All together, we have an incredible pool of experience to draw from, and an incredible amount we can learn and teach.
