Now Hiring: Office Manager

East Tennessee Cremation Company, owned and operated by The Independent Funeral Group, is a large-scale, high volume third-party crematory with a Family Cremation Center for witnessing in Maryville, TN.

We are seeking a Licensed Funeral Director with Crematory Operator experience.

Our facility performs around 3,000 cremations each year, so applicants should be highly motivated to work in a fast-paced crematory environment, be able to communicate and work collectively with a team, and develop a good, professional working relationships with our funeral home customers and staff. East Tennessee Cremation Company prides itself on providing a positive and encouraging work environment, with a small but closely-cooperative staff and leadership on-site for support.

Role Overview

The Office Manager serves as the operational backbone of our third-party crematory. This role is responsible for the seamless coordination of intakes, meticulous documentation management, and serving as the primary point of contact for our funeral home partners. The successful candidate will handle every case with a high degree of integrity, ensuring 100% compliance with company procedures and Federal, State, and Municipal regulations.

 

Core Responsibilities

Documentation & Compliance

  • Case Management: Review all incoming cremation documentation for accuracy, completion, and legal compliance.

  • Data Integrity: Perform precise data entry of cases into the company database and issue identifying tags to maintain an airtight chain of custody.

  • Regulatory Adherence: Ensure all professional, municipal, state, and federal regulations regarding the cremation of human remains are strictly followed.

  • Reporting: Maintain and update company logs, records, and internal reports.

Coordination & Communication

  • Client Relations: Act as the primary liaison for funeral home customers, answering inquiries and providing status updates with professionalism and empathy.

  • Logistics: Schedule and confirm the delivery of decedents from funeral home partners.

  • Internal Liaison: Coordinate daily workflows between crematory operators and funeral home customers to ensure timely service.

  • Remains Release: Manage the secure release of cremated remains to the appropriate funeral home representative or legal authority.

Operational Support

  • Problem Solving: Proactively contact customer funeral homes to verify missing information or resolve documentation discrepancies.

  • Company Advocacy: Perform all duties in alignment with company values, missions, and ethical codes.

  • Administrative Support: Execute other administrative tasks and special projects as directed by management.

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Technical Proficiency: Basic computer skills with familiarity in Microsoft Excel and Word.

  • Organizational Excellence: Highly detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple cases simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.

  • Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to maintain effective, respectful relationships with affiliates and third parties.

  • Integrity: A high level of personal and professional integrity is required given the sensitive nature of the industry.

  • Adaptability: Proven ability to multi-task and prioritize urgent requests without sacrificing accuracy.

 

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • Must have a valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.

  • Previous experience in office management or high-stakes administrative roles preferred.

  • Experience in the funeral or cremation industry is a plus but not required; a commitment to learning complex regulatory requirements is essential.

Pay

Starting at $22 per hour

 

Schedule

Monday through Friday 8:00 am to 4:30 pm

Paid holidays for Fourth of July, Thanksgiving, and Christmas
