About the event

About this course:

Dr. Brad Kuchnicki, funeral director and embalmer for 28 years, and OSHA-certified Occupational Safety Specialist and Outreach Trainer— as well as the Executive Director of The Group— will be presenting.

Funeral service workers must adapt to many different situations and positions in the workplace. While waiting on families, making removals, embalming, prearranging funerals, and more, they are responsible for running ethically sound business practices. Funeral service workers have a responsibility to adhere to fundamental ethical principles and must utilize them as a core basis. The purpose of this course is to educate funeral service workers about the importance of maintaining high ethical standards as well as the consequences if those ethical standards are not met. Funeral service workers will also learn about why it is necessary to develop a code of ethics and will review the ethical tenets imposed by the NFDA's Code of Professional Conduct and the Funeral Rule. Furthermore, this course introduces funeral professionals to ethical reasoning as it applies to the complex world of the funeral industry. The course will briefly outline some frameworks for parsing ethical questions both internal to and external to business organizations as they arise in the workplace. Business ethics applies to both employee and employer conduct, conduct on behalf of a business, and conduct within a business. Ethical framing and theories to examine dilemmas that arise at different stages and phases of business conduct are crucial.
